It seems that director Garry Marshall has been actively gathering the cast of "New Year's Eve". According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robert De Niro, Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer and Ashton Kutcher are about to land lead roles in the movie.
De Niro is in talks to portray a bitter dying man in a hospital, and Swank would be seen as a producer of the famed Times Square New Year's Eve show. Meanwhile, Pfeiffer will be a frustrated executive secretary who decides to tackle her unfulfilled resolutions. As for Kutcher who has previously worked with Marshall in "Valentine's Day", he may play a guy who hates New Year's Eve, THR says.
Previously, Lea Michele has been reported eying her movie debut with "New Year's Eve" though her role has not been mentioned yet. Later, Abigail Breslin is also reported signing up for the romantic comedy which will be filmed in New York City this December.
Katherine Fugate provides the script for the upcoming movie which tells intertwining stories of a group of New Yorkers as they navigate their way through romance over the course of New Year's Eve. Made following the warm reception of "Valentine's Day", "New Year's Eve" is targeted for December 9, 2011 release in the U.S.
Robert De Niro last appeared in "Machete", while Hilary Swank's latest film "Conviction" is currently playing in theaters. Michelle Pfeiffer was last seen gracing big screen with "Cheri". Ashton Kutcher starred opposite Katherine Heigl in "Killers" and will next share screen with Natalie Portman in "No Strings Attached".
